Peter Robertson is a successful entrepreneur. After a career in sales and marketing
in the electronics industry, Peter developed an idea for a cost-saving revolutionary
product that saves energy. His standby energy eliminator has now sold over 3 million
pieces and won his company a Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2008.
When One Click Technologies Ltd started to become really successful in 2007 Peter
needed someone to prepare his company’s monthly management accounts. Furthermore,
the company’s bankers also required timely and reliable information to safeguard
their funding of the One Click operation.
But there was neither the need nor the budget for a full-time qualified accountant.
Peter had kept in touch with Graham Trimming, a colleague at Triax UK Ltd during
the late nineties. He remembered Graham as a first-class accountant in whom he had
total trust. The call came and the relationship has blossomed ever since.
Until recently the company’s accounts were maintained on a server located at the
company’s headquarters in Nottingham, about 140 miles from Graham’s base in south
Nevertheless, modern technology allowed Graham to maintain the accounting system,
check the accuracy of the transactional items posted by the staff in Nottingham,
and post journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, etc.
Currently, Graham maintains all the ledgers, still using Sage 50, on his own computer
The trial balance is downloaded into an Excel file from which Graham provides many
pages of management accounting information and key performance indicators.
Graham also runs the payroll, prepares the quarterly VAT returns and any profit and
cash forecasts that the company’s management or the bankers may require.
Then, at the end of the financial year, Graham prepares the annual accounts and Corporation
Tax return and submits these to Companies House and HMRC.
“I had worked with Graham previously and so when I needed an accountant for my own
successful business I knew exactly who would provide me with the expert service I
needed and also save the company money”
Peter Robertson, Managing Director, One Click Technologies Ltd.
